Watercolour for Beginners course

Sarah teaching a watercolour class

” Sarah is a wonderful teacher – she does lots of demonstrating and guides you through all the basics of watercolour painting, so that you feel confident that you can actually paint … with paints … on proper paper … with a brush … and know what you’re doing! ”         Kirsty

Combined Beginners 1 & 2 Workshop

When you have completed the Watercolour for Absolute Beginners workshop there are two other beginners workshops to take you further in getting to know the basics and build your confidence: Beginners Plus One and Beginners Plus Two.

For those of you who have far to travel to come to my workshops, as an experiment I’ve combined the “highlights” of Watercolour for Beginners One and Two into a condensed two day workshop rather than the usual two x two days.  This makes a perfect add-on to the Absolute Beginners workshop to make a four day watercolour intensive for those of you who want to learn FAST.

What you’’ll learn:

A watercolour mixing masterclass made simple.

The Three Colour Watercolour Mixing System: we’ll create over 80 of our own colours from just three. Pearl Grey, Terracotta, fresh Lime Green; Raspberry Pink, Plum, Dark Chocolate, Clotted Cream… it’s all possible with just our three colours!

You’ll also learn:

How to paint onto wet paper for soft, amorphous shapes and back grounds: (wet in wet)

How to create multicoloured shapes on paper (wet in wet)

How to create watercolour washes and glazes for skies and background

How to use multiple washes to create a simple landscape (glazing technique.)

It’ll be a high intensity workshop but there’ll still be time for lots of chocolate biscuit eating and tea drinking
